imPRESS Exhibition of monotypes and collagraphs

The process of creating monotypes and collagraphs is interesting. I used oil and acrylic paint on glass to create these. Collagraph refers to a combination of relief and print made on any flat surface using different textures. Usually, it is done by inking a plate with intaglio ink using a paintbrush, roller or some combination.  A Monotype is a single print taken from a design created in oil paint or printing ink on glass or metal Would you like to know more about it?

These are 4 pieces, monotypes and collagraphs I have on exhibition in “imPRESS” which is an exclusively printmaking exhibition. All forms of printmaking, including woodcut relief, lithography, intaglio, collagraphs, etc.

I recently had fun in Denver creating prints using a gelli plate. Here’s a book that shows how to do those Monotypes

Corvids Visitation

Crows have been a subject of mine for many years. Recently we’ve had a lot of migratory birds including the Cedar Wax Wings, Robins and many tiny birds. Everyone is in an uproar, including the squirrels, So the crows have been making alerts along with blue jays. I rather enjoy all the commotion. With such I’ve been inspired to create my new piece in oil! This crow is “Evermore, Rainbow Crow” . Do you know the legend?

Abstract and Fresh

A better word than youthful is fresh. Originally I had said youtful, but both apply here. I created this beautiful pale pink, plaid like painting and it just feels fresh and youthful. I title it “Schoolgirl Crush”

Rent was live on Fox this past week. What I didn’t know is that the iconic song Seasons of Love was written by my childhood heart throb Donny Osmond. I just love this song!
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Moments so dear
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure, measure a year?

In daylights, in sunsets
In midnights, in cups of coffee
In inches, in miles
In laughter, in strife?

Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure a year in the life?

How about love?
How about love?
How about love?
Measure in love
Seasons of love
Seasons of love

Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Journeys to plan
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure the life
Of a woman or a man?

In truth that she learns
Or in times that he cried
In bridges he burned
Or the way that she dies

It's time now to sing out
Though the story never ends
Let's celebrate
Remember a year in the life of friends

Remember the love
Remember the love
Remember the love
Measure in love
Seasons of love
